'Darcy’s Hope at Donwell Abbey' Blog Tour by Ginger Monette ~ Excerpt & Giveaway!

Hello fellow Readers!

Today I have the pleasure of sharing an excerpt of 'Darcy's Hope at Donwell Abbey', by Ginger Monette! As an added bonus Ginger is kindly offering readers a chance to enter a giveaway! (US Residents only)

I first met Ginger, when I was contacted by another, lovely JAFF blogger; to find out if I would like to be a UK beta. Of course I was thrilled and daunted with the opportunity. Although we had never met in person, Ginger was very gracious and wonderful throughout the whole process. I had such fun. Therefore, I was so happy to see Ginger's story, 'Darcy's Hope ~ Beauty from Ashes' come to fruition.

I am excited to be participating in this current blog tour for Ginger's second instalment, 'Darcy's Hope at Donwell Abbey'! I simply, cannot wait to read it, to find out what Wickham's been up to. To watch Darcy and Elizabeth's relationship blossom and grow under the challenges ahead is something I look forward too.
Thank you Ginger, for sharing today and for allowing me, to be a part of your journey.

Blurb ~

1917. Amidst the chaos of WW1, Captain Fitzwilliam Darcy has won the heart of Elizabeth Bennet. Finally.

Then she disappears.

Still reeling from the loss, Darcy is struck by a battlefield tragedy that leaves him in a dark and silent world.

Sent to Donwell Abbey to recover, he's coaxed back to life by an extraordinary nurse. A woman whose uncanny similarities to Elizabeth invite his admiration and entice his affections.

His heart tells him to hold on to Elizabeth. His head tells him to take a chance with his nurse.

But Donwell Abbey holds a secret that just might change everything.

Excerpt ~

Elizabeth bolted from the chair. “Fitzwilliam, wake up!” She nudged his arm in the darkened room, but he continued writhing with great heaving breaths. “Captain!” She squeezed his hand, but he jerked it away, whimpering.
On impulse, she slid her arms under his shoulders and held him close. Instantly his thrashing ceased.
Gently rocking him, she massaged the unbandaged hair at his temple and whispered against his cheek, “It’s all right. Just a dream.”
His breathing slowed, but his body remained tense. “My ribs...hurt.”
She lowered him back to the pillow, then tapped on his hand, Try to relax. All right now?
“Mmm.... Water. And morphine.”
She squeezed his hand and poured water into the hospital cup. She touched the pill to his lips then offered the porcelain straw.
He swallowed. “Who are you?”
Elizabeth froze and closed her eyes. How she longed to tell him the truth, then brush a kiss on his lips, assure him of her love, and promise to stay by his side.
She took his hand and spelled, Miss Thomas.
“Thank you...Miss Thomas.”
Elizabeth sank into the wing chair and released a heavy breath. Could she bear to be so close and yet so far away from Fitzwilliam?

Oh my word what an excerpt! I am even more intrigued now, why can't she tell him? I guess i'll find out soon enough. Thank you again Ginger and thank you for the giveaway!

Thank you Ginger, I know it was difficult to find an excerpt without giving too much away or haveing spoilers.

As always, it is a pleasure to hear your thoughts!

  1. After following the blog tour for Darcy's Hope - Beauty from Ashes, Ginger kindly offered me a chance to read this sequel early. Of course, I jumped at the chance! It's a very worthy sequel to Ashes and though it can be read as a standalone, I really recommend that you read them in order. The two books make up a really strong story between them and there are teasers for forthcoming books in her Great War series. Can't wait for them!

    1. I agree with you, I read Ashes in pieces and then in whole a while ago. I'm going to have to read it again. I Like to refresh myself to get the full experience. Glad you enjoyed it :)

  2. Thanks, Tamara, for featuring Darcy's Hope on your blog today! I SO appreciated all your help in helping me be sure I correctly portrayed British vernacular and culture in Beauty from Ashes. Even though we all speak English, it's amazing how many words, phrases, and spellings are different.

    1. It was an honour to be a part of the experience, thank you again. lol I spot the differences more now. Can't wait to read part 2! Good luck with the rest of the tour :)

  3. I read and reviewed both these books and loved them. I especially like that it draws our attention to the misery, death and destruction our men and women in the armed services face and how without them we would have no freedoms. Thanks, Ginger, for an excellent story, video, pictures and musical accompaniment.

    1. Thank you, Shelia! America commemorates its 100th anniversary of participation in WW1 in April. I hope that readers will pay attention. We have a lot to learn from our great-grandfathers and the WW1 generation. I was SO inspired by their ability to remain cheerful amidst abysmal circumstances and the way everyone pulled together for the war effort.

    2. I so agree ladies, when my grandmother used to tell me how life was, I then look at this generation and think they have a lot to learn and be grateful for. Glad you enjoyed the books Sheila, where did you post your reviews?

  4. My father served with the Army Air Force in England for four years. That is where he learned the trade of photography. I also had a number of uncles who served in that war. My brother and brother-in-law served in Viet Nam while my husband was in the army he never served overseas. I also have a niece who is in the Air Force at present so I have many reasons to say thanks to those serving.

  5. Oh, my! No matter what century Elizabeth and Darcy are portrayed in, my heart still flutters. Where are my salts? Thank you for the giveaway and excerpt.

    1. Ha ha indeed as long as D&E are the main ingredients you can't go wrong. What a great excerpt. Good luck in the giveaway

  6. I'm sure you will love 'Darcy's Hope at Donwell Abbey', Tamara. I adore both parts of the saga, but Book 2 made even a stronger impression on me than Book 1. I don't know, how it is possible. :)

    1. Thanks Katie! Judging from the excerpt I think I can see how, that would be possible lol I look forward to reading it :)

  7. Please keep updating this blog, it's been too long. Great post! We adore this blog and This information is very good.
